Google Ads Management: What to Expect in the First 30 Days

Hiring a Google Ads agency? Use this first-month plan to agree access, tracking, budget approvals, campaign delivery and qualified-lead reporting.

Use a first-month agency checklist to agree account access, measurement, budgets, campaign responsibilities and qualified-enquiry reporting.

The first month of Google Ads management should establish a clear commercial brief, appropriate account access, reliable enquiry measurement and an agreed campaign plan. Ask for evidence of completed work and a record of decisions. A first-month report should explain what was learned and what remains uncertain, rather than promise a fixed number of customers.

This guide is for service businesses hiring an agency or changing providers, including businesses serving Thane and companies selling internationally. The sequence below is a suggested working plan, not a guaranteed delivery timeline. Existing account issues, approvals and development work can change the schedule.

Agree on the business brief before changing campaigns

Give the provider a short description of the services you want to grow, the buyers you can serve and the projects you cannot accept. Include real service areas, sales coverage and any capacity limits. A campaign generating enquiries your team cannot handle is not aligned with your business.

Define a qualified enquiry in plain language. For example, your team may require service fit, a relevant location and a genuine project requirement. Do not assume every form submission meets these criteria. Agree who reviews enquiries, how quickly that review can happen and how feedback reaches the account manager.

For an existing account, record the starting position before making substantial changes. Preserve the reporting periods, conversion definitions and known tracking problems. This helps distinguish a change in measurement from an actual change in business performance.

Use this worksheet to assign responsibilities and acceptance checks. The timing is illustrative: an account should not launch simply because a particular day has arrived.

Keep access and ownership clear

Use invitations or an appropriate manager-account link rather than sending passwords. Record which business user retains administrative access, who manages billing and what access is needed for the website, analytics and lead destination. These are separate systems; an Ads login alone does not establish that the whole enquiry journey can be fixed.

Google distinguishes linking an existing client account from manager ownership. Linking does not automatically give the manager ownership; that additional privilege is separately enabled. Google recommends granting ownership only when its extra privileges are needed. Source: Google Ads manager-account ownership guidance.

If you are changing providers, ask for a handover inventory: active campaigns, scheduled work, landing pages, tracking configuration and unresolved issues. Review dependencies before removing old access. A tracking setup or landing page operated by the outgoing provider may need an agreed transition.

Verify the enquiry journey before judging performance

Ask the agency and developer to follow a labeled test enquiry from the landing page through to the inbox or CRM. Confirm that the receiving team can identify the requested service and contact the prospect. Record the test so that it is not mistaken for a real lead.

Separate an action from an outcome. A phone-button click is not a confirmed call; a WhatsApp click is not a completed conversation; a form success screen is not proof that a valid enquiry reached sales. Define each reported event and investigate gaps between systems before treating dashboard totals as business results.

An onboarding plan should name who fixes missing tags, broken forms or unsuitable landing-page content. If development is excluded from the management fee, arrange that work separately. Our landing page scope checklist helps identify those responsibilities.

Set budget rules and approval responsibilities

Separate advertising spend from management fees, software and implementation costs. Name the person authorized to approve budget increases, new markets and major changes to the offer. Record approvals in a place both parties can refer to.

An average daily Google Ads budget is not necessarily a fixed daily cap. Google explains that for most campaigns the daily spending limit is twice the average daily budget and the monthly limit is 30.4 times it. Budget changes and other budget types require their own checks. Source: Google Ads budgets overview.

Ask how total spend across campaigns will be monitored and how an unexpected change will be escalated. A written spending plan should state the budget type, currency, campaign scope and review responsibility. Read our Google Ads management pricing guide when comparing the full commercial commitment.

Choose a focused launch or transition scope

Agree which service, buyer group and locations the first campaign work will address. For a Thane business, use the area it actually serves. For international campaigns, consider language, sales availability and the ability to deliver the advertised service before adding countries.

Ask the provider to explain how the campaign plan follows from that brief. The explanation should cover the offer, the page visitors reach and what happens after an enquiry. A long list of campaign types does not substitute for a coherent customer journey.

For a running account, avoid treating an agency change as an automatic reason to rebuild everything. Request a diagnosis, proposed changes and a way to review their impact. Document significant edits so that later reporting has context.

What should the first-month report contain?

Request four sections: completed work, spend and recorded actions, sales feedback, and proposed next steps. Include the reporting period, definitions and any known data limitations. That structure makes it easier to see what was delivered and what the available evidence supports.

A useful report might explain that tracking was repaired, several enquiries were unsuitable for a named reason and the next review will focus on the relevant searches or page message. An unhelpful report only shows clicks and declares success. Neither low click cost nor a high account score establishes profitable customer acquisition.

Avoid drawing a strong conclusion from a small sample. One suitable enquiry is encouraging but not a reliable conversion forecast. If the sales cycle extends beyond a month, track opportunities through the later stages instead of attributing revenue that has not closed.

Questions to ask at the review meeting

Which planned tasks are complete, and where is the evidence? Which findings changed the original assumptions? Are the recorded enquiries suitable for the business? What is the next proposed change, who owns it and what result would justify continuing it?

Use the answers to agree on the next scope. Continue useful work, resolve measurement gaps and challenge unexplained recommendations. The Google Ads audit checklist offers a deeper account-review framework if the onboarding process reveals unresolved issues.

Plan your Google Ads handover

Review our Google Ads management services, then request an onboarding scope discussion. Share your website, priority service, target markets, intended advertising budget and whether an account already exists. Do not send passwords. A concrete brief makes it possible to discuss responsibilities, measurement and a practical first-month plan.
